Since guidelines are still being provided by the SBA, we recommend that you wait 24 weeks after your loan is disbursed to apply for loan forgiveness. If you apply before the guidelines are set, you risk having your exemption amount reduced.

You may be eligible to have up to 100% of your loan forgiven – meaning you don’t have to repay the principal or any interest – if you follow the program’s guidelines and meet certain criteria.

At the end of the 24-week period, you can start applying for loan forgiveness directly through your lender (Cabbage). You must provide:

Kabbage is a financial technology company that provides automated loans to small businesses and consumers. The company has turned its focus to personal paycheck protection (PPP) loans to help small businesses struggling during the coronavirus outbreak.

July 2, 2020 Update: Previously, the deadline to apply for PPP loans was 11:59 p.m. ET on June 30. On July 1, the House of Representatives passed a bill extending the deadline to August 8. If President Trump signs the bill, the extension will become official.

Kabbage Halted New Ppp Applications Ahead Of The Deadline

Since the passage of the CARES Act, banks have been flooded with applications for PPP loans, resulting in borrowers being overwhelmed. In an attempt to slow down applications, banks are placing strict guidelines on applicants and making the process more difficult. Cabbage is emerging as a resource for small businesses struggling to get PPP loans.

Kabbage has partnered with tech-friendly banks and Small Business Administration authorized lenders. Forbes reported that there are several partner lenders, including Cross River Bank and Consumer Bank. These partnerships allow borrowers to access PPP loans online relatively quickly.

Cabbage is ideal for small businesses that are eligible for PPP loans but find it difficult to get them through their banks.

Not all institutions are yet approved to offer OPS loans and many of the approved banks only do so for existing customers. Others set even tighter limits on who can apply. If these limitations hinder your ability to apply for a loan, Kabbage can be a solution.

The platform is also suitable for companies that do not require more than 2 million dollars. Although the CARES Act allows lenders to make PPP loans of up to $10 million, or 2.5 times their average monthly salary, Kabbage can only process loans of $2 million or less.

Benefits of applying for a PPP loan through Kabbage You can apply even if you are not an existing Kabbage customer

Many banks are so overwhelmed by PPP loan applications that they limit applications to existing customers. Getting a loan is difficult if your bank doesn’t offer PPP loans — you can’t just apply to another bank.

Your bank may offer PPP loans, but you’re still having trouble applying. For example, although companies with fewer than 500 employees are eligible for PPP loans, Wells Fargo has limited loans to companies with fewer than 50 employees because they quickly run out of money. Bank of America has been accused of favoring consumer loan applicants over those with personal accounts.

Kabbage, Fintechs Under Ppp Distribution Scrutiny

Kabbage is open to all eligible businesses, giving you a place to turn if your bank either can’t help or makes it difficult for you to apply.

When you submit your application online, Cabbage can tell you in minutes if your business qualifies for a PPP loan and how much you’re approved for.

You can request the money as soon as you get the loan approved. A Cabbage representative told Business Insider that Cabbage will transfer the money to your bank account within five business days of your request.

Under the CARES Act, small businesses can receive the lesser of $10 million or 2.5 times their average monthly salary. However, Cabbage can only process loans of $2 million or less.

Since you are limited to a PPP loan, you cannot get a loan through Kabbage, then apply to another bank for additional financing. However, you can apply through Kabbage and other lenders before choosing which loan to accept.

Like any other lender, Kabbage can’t guarantee you’ll be approved for a loan before it runs out of money — which it already has before the initial $349 billion allocated to the program. Small businesses can apply for PPP loans until August 8 if Trump approves the bill to extend the deadline, but you should apply as soon as possible to increase your chances of getting a loan.

Gather the necessary information before starting the cabbage application. Cabbage says all applicants should come prepared with:

The rest of the materials you need, depending on whether you are a sole proprietor/self-employed or an employee/non-profit, are listed on Kabbage’s website.

When you visit Kabbage’s PPP loan page, click “Apply Now” to start the process. After you submit your information, Cabbage will tell you if your business qualifies for a PPP loan and how much you can get. If you choose to accept a loan, you can enter your bank account details and receive money via direct deposit.

You will not pay any fees to apply for a PPP loan through Kabbage. The SBA requires borrowers to pay fees to agents like Kabbage, so Kabbage makes its money from its partner banks, not from consumers.
